Well...I think a pretty good job was done coming out on top in that
war that few think deserves to be called a war...the Cold War.

Many lost their lives in little-noted incidents for which not even
a service medal is authorized. (The National Defense Service Medal
doesn't count.  It was authorized in conjunction with the Korean and
Vietnam War eras, not the Cold War.)

No other U.S. military effort was as long and as costly.
