Bendix made one cool HF xmtr. I saw one at a hamfest years ago. I didn't bring it home.

Well, one might if I can get original source permission. But why would I
care about Bendix equipment?

PT boats didn't go out alone as a rule but rather in squadrons. Boat to
boat communications was close enough that, once the enemy was engaged, voice
comm was not only possible but sometimes necessary. Note the word "voice."

Again with the CW! Why? And why only with ships? A TCS could talk with
aircraft radios too. For that matter, they could talk with HF ground sets
just as well. So let's ask the community at large how Jeep-mounted TCS
equipment was used. Folks?

One other place it was used was aboard larger ships to talk with harbor
masters, tugs and other smaller vessels. They were also found aboard
captain's gigs, admiral's barges, liberty boats (Darn, I can't remember what
they were now - open, wooden, bench seats etc.), landing craft and a host of
other places where CW simply wasn't practical but a good rugged radio was
essential.

We really did use ship to ship and ship to shore AM in the Navy. Honest!
:-)
