Dave, damn nice photos. Where did you find those?
I suggest those would look nice in Michael's book.
I think also interesting the use in motor launches. 
I would have thought they'd use instead some small
rig like Coast Guard TRP-109 or some such - but
maybe production was not sufficient.
I have a planning drawing (somewhere, similar
data recall situation ) for locating SCR-274
eqpt in "100 Ft Coast Guard Cutter". 

BTW, the only TCS CW application I can think of,
at sea, is PTs. Nothing else seagoing ventured
out by itself far enough to require CW.
( Enlighten me if you know otherwise. ) 
Likewise, for jeep mounted TCS, how far would
they be going, that they had to use CW, even
to reach ships offshore? TCS has roughly double
the AM output of TBX.  I don't doubt that the
TCS has "good CW tone", altho I seem to 
recall that you could get somewhat "hard
keying" and relay snap in RF note sometimes.
