[Milsurplus] [ARC5] D-Day

AMEN to that Mike. I was 9 at the time.
Remember the paper drives, scrap metal drives,
the Ladies Aid rolling bandages in the kitchen,
of all things, saving kitchen grease (it was worth 10 cents a lb, a lot of
money then)
Still have my ration books Mom was issued , a gas sticker and other things.
My greatest treasure is a pair of Glider Pilot wings, given to me after the
war by a family friend,
who landed one in France and survived.
The true hero's are fast disappearing and those of us
that were too young to fight but gave support any way we could
will to soon follow.
When we are gone, how will it all be remembered?

Thanx

I will never forget D-Day. I was 10 years old at the time and had already
won a General Eisenhower medal for collecting 2000 lbs of newspapers for the
scrap drive.
