[Milsurplus] SX 28 chromed front panel

Your "chrome" SX-28's were actually nickel plated from the factory. An ill 
fated attempt to stop corrosion.
I have one on the bench and watched the paint fall off of it over several 
years.
Underneath a beautiful nickel plated panel.

With all the hub bub  about the polished aluminum front panel 390 it 
reminded me of seeing a couple ( unless it was the same one) SX 28's with 
what I believe were chromed plated front panels. They looked professionally 
done and the lettering was done in red as I recall . This was back in the 
early and late 70's when I saw them.

Was this something Hallicrafters did or some after market business that made 
these for whatever reason??
