Thanks to you great folks who looked at this.
I totally forgot about the tank "Q" calculation.
And it's a parallel tank, so of course it's going
to be Hi-Z at resonance... DOH!  (forehead slap).

I think the suggestion to replace the oscillator tank
with an RF choke is a good one, since the following 
stage is an  amplifier/tripler. 
If I bump it down to 3.9 MC for use as 
a buffer/amplifier and have tanks on the grid 
and plate,  it will want to be a TGTP oscillator.
Of course, that could easily be the case between
the buffer and the PA, but mounting the two coils
at right angles might be enough to stop it.
A shield might also be "do-able."

IIRC, going from a freq multiplier stage to 
a straight amplifier will mean turning the grid
bias down some... will have to look at the 
tube charts.  And the bypass caps will 
have to be recalculated for the lower freq.

I've brought this up before- a "hammed" aircraft
VHF transmitter brought down to 75 meters,
for the fun of it.  I'm just getting closer to 
actually doing it now ;-).
