It's funny how, after I left the service, when I got into a "situation" the
person who helped me out was most usually a Marine.  (Note: not ex-Marine
because there is no such critter but a Marine.)  Some saw me as a human
being who needed a hand up while others saw me as a vet in the same
situation but in both cases they offered that hand without hesitation.
Aside from other squids (Navy personnel to those unfamiliar with the term),
I can't say the same for any other service.  As a result, I always shall be
a huge fan of the Marine Corps.
