[Milsurplus] Morale Audio on Ships

Nick and John,

We have almost the same arrangement for our morale system. Our system
consists of about 20 to 25 speakers, three RBO receivers, and on
phonograph. Our speaker-amplifiers are CRV-49131s with a four channel
selector for either one of the three RBO receivers or the phonograph
in Radio II. Just like yours they are wired in series with a push pull
amp with with 600 milliwatt 600 ohm input. From tracing the wiring
from the jacks to each speaker-amp we have found no external amp nor
any provisions for such (we were looking for line breaks). If you
would like, I have a wiring diagram for our speaker amps though I
don't know if it will be helpful to you. As always if I can be of
assistance let me know, as I am very grateful to the help that you
have given us!

Best Regards,

Travis

Hi John -
Look at the NT-49620 selector/amp/speaker here (toward bottom of page).
http://www.navy-radio.com/rcvr-spkr.htm

There is also the NT-49545 selector/amp/speaker but I don't have any
photos - just a drawing-
http://www.navy-radio.com/navpers/3-58.jpg and this description
Amplifier-Speaker Unit NT-49545
The Navy type 49545 amplifier-speaker unit, seen in figure 3-58,
is a combination audio amplifier and loudspeaker assembly. Its
reproduction qualities are considered good. Aboard most ships, it is
installed in berthing and messing compartments as an entertainment
loudspeaker.
All operating controls of the unit are located on the front panel.
They consist of a power on-off switch, a power-on indicating lamp, a
tone control, a volume control, and a channel selector switch that
permits selection of up to five different entertainment (or
communication) channels.
cheers,
Nick
