There is an exception note in the NEC which allows for the useage of the standard 15-amp receptical's on a 20 amp general use circuit.
The 20-amp receptical is available both duplex and single. It is recognisable as the left blade of the receptical is actualy in the shape of a "T" on it's side. This allows the insertion of both a normal 15 amp plug or a 20 amp one in which the left blade is horizontal.
The 30 amp 125-volt. plugs and outlets have two hortzontal blades above the standard round ground.

There are actually two different rating 2W+G duplex outlets available (plus
a third one rated 30 AMP/125 VAC but it only has one socket). The standard
duty duplex one is now rated 15 AMP/125 VAC (the actual marked voltage
depends upon what year the outlet was made). There is also a heavy duty outlet
that's rated 20 AMP/125 VAC. --
