Why replace the 60 cps motor?  The only problem I see is that the time
information on the chart paper will be off by the difference of 50 vs 60 cps.
Besides, will the larger 50 cps motor still fit into the Rustrak case and use
the same mounting studs?

All I would worry about is motor core saturation due to the lower mains
frequency.  Run an experiment to see how much hotter the 60 cps motor runs on
your 50 cps mains and then lower the mains voltage to the motor to get back to
the same operating temperature.

If the time scales on the Rustrak is important then you can use one of the older
computer UPS power supplies to do the conversion from 50 to 60 cps.  I have
modified one to act as a 60 to 400 cps converter by changing one resistor in the
timing circuit.  Works great as long as you can tolerate the modified sine wave
the the UPS generates.

Hello!

I need to change the 60 Hz motors of my recorders for using
them here in Europe. I found a suitable replacement for
230 V/ 50 Hz but I need to re-use the original main drive
plastic wheel. It appears a bit hard to remove.
Since I am not very skilled in micro mechanics, I am afraid
of breaking something.
So that, the advice of someone knowing the inner works of the
above recorders on how to remove that wheel safely would be
most appreciated.

Best wishes for the New Year,
Antonio
