[Milsurplus] AEA PK 232 MBX - revisited

Hi:

I put out a request about a month ago looking for a terminal emulation program that I can use on my Vista or XP computer along with a RS 232 converter. I got lots of replies and ran each lead to ground.
I actually found nothing that would work and I am really unwilling to pay $50 for a program from a vendor.
So here goes again: Who knows of a free or nearly free program that will act like a dumb terminal thru an RS 232 port?  If you know could you please push my nose in it and give me specific information about where to look.
It would be of great help.
