I don’t believe the Time-Life series offers anything better than an occasional glimpse of a radio.
However – I bought at a local variety store ( Fred Meyer ) a 2-DVD set in a small metal box,
something like “WW2 Confidential” – I don’t know where I put it now- which despite having
seemingly endless scenes of bombers droning on long range missions, and bombs falling
noiselessly from them – actually had some interesting radio scenes. I made a list of the
radio parts and the minutes in, to locate them, but then other priorities took precedence.
There was one on a air-ground radio station in Burma; a hilltop airfield in PNG with
only a BC-654 as the station; a BC-191 being packed for airdrop (good luck with the
VT-4C’s ! ), and some other scenes. I noticed there were other WW2 themed similarly
packaged programs. These might prove more interesting, in terms of radio matter,
than the Time-Life war series. However if you’re looking for film of actual combat
and close-up destruction, I think the Time-Life series delivers more. –Hue
