[Milsurplus] Utterly OT: Weird Snow

I'm submitting this here because it's a place I can find
people smarter than me whom I respect.

An unusually heavy snow of about 6 inches fell in northeast Texas,
east of Dallas, on the night of Feb. 3rd.
While cleaning snow off my work truck,

I noticed a layer of snow with a pink/orange tinge.
Snow fell for about an inch,
than the orange layer of about a quarter inch, then the rest above
looked normal. I've seen snow contaminated by atmospheric dust
before- this looks very different.
Here's a photo with the color saturation enhanced
so you can see the weird stuff:

The layer is general over all the snow around here.

Any ideas?
Regards,
David S.
