Boy, that sounds familiar, Clare.  I went "thru channels" at my 
employeer to try to determine the fate of several boxes of tubes that I 
discovered in a storage area after an in-house 'scope cal lab was 
outsourced, only to be told that such a thing did not exist.  I was 
informed that the accounting records said that anything associated with 
that operation had been written off as "scrap".  However it was easy to 
get a pass to remove "scrap boxes" from the storage area.
