[Milsurplus] semiconductor tube replacement?

Having seen a few articles on replacing the battery tubes in the BC-611 
and such sets with FET modules I wonder has anyone tried the same with 
the small Japanese sets, the 94-6 for example?

As it uses a single twin triode, UY-30 or Type 19 equivalent I would 
guess two FET's might be pressed into the same role.

Might make an interesting project?
