All this ARB talk reminded me of my encounter with one in 1959. I helped a 
fellow hs buddie aspiring ham to convert one so he would have a receiver. We 
got it from FAIR radio and it included simple instructions on converting the 
filament to 12v operation and some other suggestions.
What a wonderful receiver. Wish I still had it (or one in that nice 
condition at 1959 prices)
Our mentors had BC-652's and BC-348's and a couple weathy guys with 75A-2, 
SX-101 and NC-183's
