[Milsurplus] ARB

I have to admit that that this is one of the best if not THE best
transformation or transplantation (to express myself mildly) of original
equipment I ever saw.

However, I beg to differ with "... out of necessity beat this old war horse
into a functional piece of equipment..." !
The "old warhorse, the ARB is a functional piece of equipment! I can't see
the necessity of breaking it up and reconnecting its modules after
remounting them in a different configuration in a new chassis and cabinet to
make it into a more functional piece of equipment. The ARB is very
functional in its original state, thank you. It's amazing that sometimes
people went through tens or hundreds of hours of needless work just because
they didn't bother locating an original connector or remote control to make
the equipment "functional", and/or haven't looked at the whole picture what
made up the system. After all, lives depended on the functioning of the
equipment in their original environment.

Not that I haven't committed some surplus equipment butcheries and
"hammifications" in my immature teens before I knew better....

YMMV!

May I say that this receiver is truly a product of the ham spirit and
ingenuity of a mate who out of necessity beat this old war horse into a
functional piece of equipment. It's a shame that the folks who did this
kind of
work can't be recognized for their contributions to the art.
