In an ideal world, that would be an ARA/ATA and a GF/RU set, both able to
operate on 80 & 40m like your SCR-274-N and SCR-A?-183. (I forgot which
model. I'm sorry.) These would be used for photos for the website (which
I've pretty much settled on doing instead of dead tree publication,) "show
and tell" at hamfests etc (again like your setup) and for just plain
operating. After that would be a Type 11, older Type 15 that included VAR,
FES-1240 and whatever else I can assemble from the various Type 12 component
units I have. These would be "show and tell" units as well as for photo
use.

The postwar ARC equipment isn't a problem except a few bulkhead mount
control heads and some partial aircraft instrument panels. What are
problems are the ATA/ARA and GF/RU. What I have for them are one each TX
pair with one Tx requiring deconversion, a modulator, dynamotor and
modulator shock mount for the ATA and one each GF-11/RU-16 pair in what I
hope are recoverable condition. Full stop. I also have an R-1/ARR-1 and a
ZB-3 - or most of one - to use with these two sets, the latter still in the
original box (albeit opened and crumbling) but they're kind of useless
without the rest of the systems.

Also in residence is an SP-200-SX here that was used during WW II by one of
the agencies but I don't know who. It sat in a tunnel (read as: repurposed
lava tube) that used as a postwar "dumping ground" until last year when I
stood between it and the dumpster. There's no PS or cables and it needs
significant work as far as cosmetics go which I may have to farm out since I
simply don't have the facilities to manage that. While this isn't quite
A-list, it is something I'd like to do due to its being a WW II relic used
locally.

The reality is that I have an operational Grade B SCR-274-N I can do some
work on to bring up to something close to Grade A and some SCR-A*-183/-283
control heads and an SCR-A*-283 antenna relay to cobble together to use the
GF/RU pair assuming I can get coils. No amount of coaxing has gotten any
more components of the needful sort here for a variety of reasons including
being lied to and cheated. If I sound bitter that's because I am bitter
about having to give up on what I specifically want to build and the loss of
trust in others.

Oh, well. I'm sure something good will come of it. There is balance in the
universe but I don't see what it is right now.

Best regards,
