Here, I have a tuner pack from a 618T-1B. This version has 100 Hz tuning capability. The circuits inside are very similar to what found on the 651S-1 etc. Same cards work on the 651S-1.

My boss at Rockwell-Collins was the designer of the 651S-1 synthesizer; he gave me his design notes, when he retired. Some of stuff is dated 1969!

Collins Radio liked to reuse old designs over and over. We called "warming up the old soup". We could take novel approaches, but needed to have a good business case and a clear technical advantage. I fought and won some of those wars! Fun days!

Now, the old Collins buildings in Richardson sit empty. They look so sad, with those empty parking lots!

The good old days......

A little trivia; in the early 90s, I bought a 651S-1 from the Arthur Collins Estate. It was one of his personal toys. I was a late comer; all the juicy things were already sold.
