The web site http://tsc-60.cellmail.com/tsc-60/other/174/index.html states that
the Collins 718U (of which the AN/ARC-174 is a varient) could be configured for
100 to 1000 watts output.  The chart of 718U components at this web site shows
the Collins 648A-1 as the 1000 watt amplifier for that version.  Presumably, a
separate high power rated coupler would be required, so perhaps the 490T-9 is
one such candidate.  It's shown in the chart, with several other 490T versions.

You are the first person I've heard about who has an AN/ARC-174!
