[Milsurplus] Telephone/Microphone cable repair

Hi,
I just replaced the completely hardened cable on my EE-8 field telephone with some 3x18 SJ cable, you know the rubber-jacketed cable used for flexible AC power cords.  It was maybe just a tad larger in diameter than the original.  Maybe 3x20 or 3x22 would fit better, but it wasn't available at my local hardware.  The white printing on the cable came off nicely with some 120 grit sandpaper. 

If someone notices that one of the exposed wires that connects to the phone is green instead of red, I will admire their attention to detail.  If they persist in hassling me about it, I will demonstrate some period correct USMC Jiu Jitsu on their ass.

On Sunday I am going to send a gang of 2nd graders out with a spool of wire and the EE-8 to hook it up in my son's tree fort to call back to the house and give a situation report.
