We used to use a PDP8 and a small washing machine tub hard drive to do 
fox testing of DEC & IBM terminals in the phone company I worked for. 
When we went IP based a manager rolled the equipment off the loading bay 
into the dumpster to make sure it wasn't "salvaged" by anybody. What a 
waste!

As to the OP's original question as long as you have no criminal record 
& aren't packing heat, entry into Canada is quite easy. When leaving the 
country you only have to deal with US Customs, and US Border Patrol, and 
Homeland Security, the Minutemen & now I hear there are UAVs above the 
border.
