Michael, I am sorry I hit a nerve. I have always felt you are a strong asset
to the list, and I was
very glad to see you join. I understand Hawaii has 2 industries, the
military and tourism. I know
that even agriculture has mostly fled to the Philippines and I think that's
sad. Be that as it is -
I know how to capitalize "I" and in fact this computer forces me to. I
prefer lower case " I " as
in "Hungry I" of SF CA and maybe the Kingston Trio, which you also are old
enuff to remember.
The smallest town in Oregon has more bookstores than Hawaii, fact. But-
western Oregon has
many many grey depressing days. People jump from bridges, read books, design
software and
games, read books, try to keep rust off their collections, and so on. The
PNW is known as a
literate area ( and relatively unchurched too, BTW. ) The Goodwill stores in
the PNW cities
I think, are amazing, in terms of what you can find. I understand Hawaii's
unique background
as a 3rd world country basically stolen by a consortium of missionaries and
businessman, and
the economic limitations of the location and resources. Just the way it is,
now.
But, you assured us your collected assemblage will go to a landfill when you
check out. I
understand this may have been tongue in cheek. My take on this, why then
would I want to
send some piece you might want, knowing this? When I check out, actually
well before, I hope,
I hope I will downsize and pass on the things so at least it will survive
one, heavens, maybe
even several more, generations. ( Just saw the other night on "Pawn Stars",
someone brought
in a complete Civil War field desk complete with all ledgers and papers...)
This course seems
preferable to me; I could send a photo of the piece, for example, to you
instead. However,
while I think I understood your statement might ( I hope! ) have been
somewhat tongue in cheek,
you don't allow me the same latitude of understanding, and you kick into
full force reactive
mode. I'm not losing sleep over people sending you RATs or RAJs, or anything
truthfully. Attrition
in the micro view doesn't concern me that much anyway; it's a hit or miss
thing anyway, a true
game of chance. Regards (really ) -Hue
