Setting aside the small detail of having to pay for cellular service, this
is part of the problem. I can talk to about anyone I want using either my
cell or Vonage, although I don't use either much because I don't like
telephones. (They are here for my convenience not the other way around but
some people get really upset when I shut the ringer down or turn them off.
That's their kuleana, not mine, and I really don't care what they think.)
It is this simplicity that is part of why younger generations can't see the
use of any ham radio equipment which would include surplus, converted or
not.
The ARA/ATA, GF/RU and SCR-274-N equipment won't be all that goes to the
dump. There will also be things like an HW-101, a TR-4 and an assortment of
other civilian pieces in the "who cares" pile along with several
watchmaker's lathes etc. Thus far, I've not found anyone here interested in
seeing to their transfer of ownership prior to my demise so many much
dollars of equipment and tools will simply be lost.
Best regards,
Michael, WH7HG BL01xh
