Don't despair... TB 746-93-1 "Color and Marking of Military Vehicles,
Construction Equipment and Materials Handling Equipment", October 1964,
spells it out... basically it's the gross weight of the vehicle, with or
without the letter "C".
My M-211 deuce and-a-half weighs 13,000 pounds. The GRC-26A on the truck bed
weighs just over 7,000 pounds, so the number on the plate is 21.
