Re the RAX full set tuning range, did not the earlier GO transmitters cover a higher
frequency range, or are environmental chemicals getting to me finally? I seem to
recall reading a list of specs on GO models, where, i do not recall, but if this scenario
is not hallicinatory, it was in fact a Navy publication. I seem to recall whilst reading it,
thinking, how squirrely that transmitter must be at 27 Mc/s. ( Northern Radio's big
heavy metal boat radios, the high seas models, tuned up to 18 Mc/s, but the techs
described them as being "squirrely" at those frequencies. I think that means "real
fun to tune up." ) So is this GO, or no-GO ?
BTW, somebody step forward and suggest a scenario where in WW2, signals
intelligence was performed at HF from aircraft. Oh- monitoring German tanks?
Well, some did operate in the 24-25 Mc/s range for ground-air coordination,
but most of their traffic was in the 27-up frequencies. So, where were the RAT
and RAV and RAX receivers used like the BC-787 / S-36 ? C'mon, i'm dying to
know. Oh - i just thought of ONE example - in which case there was a motor-driven
wobbulated plugin TU for the BC-375. But - this still didn't use RAX's etc. as the
receiver. -Hue
