No, or yes, actually. The post that you relayed didn't give the
nationality of either the soldiers or the daughter. If American, then at least a good
chance it was a Chevrolet 1-1/2 Ton 4X4. If Australian probably some
Bedford thingy. As no one on the list was likely to know the daughter or her
Father's nationality, I thought possibly knowing where the airfields were might
be a clue. Unfortunately, Indonesia could as easily be US as Australian.
However, Nick sent me about the same info plus added info indicating 5th AF
flew out of both airfields in early 1942.
So I would be inclined to guess that the truck was the Chevy but the
indication that it was an ad hoc installation would seem to imply something other
than the SCR-193 which would basically have been a bolt-in. Maybe they
salvaged BC-191's and BC-224's out of crashed or damaged aircraft. If not then
most likely some Australian sets which most of us aren't familiar with to be
able to even guess.
