Chris -

Many moons ago as I read the manual I noted that to tune up the crystal
filter, a 200uA meter was to be placed in the cathode return line from
the Audio volume control. Since this is safer than the known ham
modification, I followed that lead and placed a shunted plastic Radio
Shack 50uA meter in the circuit (the plastic cracked and warped with
age). This was replaced on this rebuild with a metal case Honeywell
100uA meter with a new shunt.

The black wrinkle paint is Plasti Kote 217V . I had initially purchased
VHT DP201 paint, while reading the directions found that curing in a
200deg environment for 20 min was required. I had no access to an
electric oven so had to go with the Plasti Kote 217V paint.
