Did you try just cleaning the control? There are several brands of spray tuner cleaner that may help also there was a spray product called "lubatrol" that was specialty used for wiper type controls. Was messy but worked well. Have to wonder how long such products will be around being that mechanical tuners have not been produced in thirty years and wiper type variable resistors are not that common anymore.

I belive the AVC-MVC pot on my BC-348 has gone south. I tried to remove the knob with an allen wrench but the set screw wont budge. I know from experience that I have pushed the wrench to the limit of where either the wrench will twist, the wrench will strip, or more likely the set screw allen socket will strip out. In that event I probably could drill the set screw out from the bottom of the set but I only want to do that as a last resort. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also I haven't found a replacement pot that has the same values as the orginal ( 20,000 ohms front section 350,000 rear). If anyone has an orginal one in their junk box I would be happy to purchase same.
Thanks in advance to any and all response's
