There has been one showing up for months unsold at the De Anza College Ham Flea Mkt. It is pristine and unused, not sure if its a C, I think it goes up to 1500 Kc on the highest band. As I recall it was pretty pricey, but I'll check. The last event of the season is this coming Saturday. What's your top price? I can offer that (starting lower of course) if successful pass it along for actual purchase and shipping price.

I am a mil DF nut and have a working ARN 7, an ARN 6 and BC 433G in progress and an MN 26 on a "someday" list. I just like the LP 21 Thyratron controlled servo stuff. A hand cranked MN 20 loop just doesn't give me the same thrill.

Every once in a while I post this request: does anyone know who made the commercial marine band mods to BC 433s and sold them into the West Coast commercial fishing fleet in the 50s and 60s? The mod tweaked the band 3 osc and made it go from 2-3 MHz. I saw them frequently during my early days as a commercial fisherman. They worked GREAT for DFing AM boat comms, outperformed competing commercial gear from Raytheon and Apelco. The loop compensator in the LP 21 cold be calibrated to remove almost all bearing distortion caused by ship structure and rigging. The compensator was an ingenious mech design with a circular cam strip whose shape could be changed every few degrees by set screws pushing inward. It was a hassle to calibrate intially, but once set it was darn near perfect.
