I've found that solar power is widely used in this
area for charging batteries, and thus providing
power for inverters. One day this week I plan to
visit an Amish family with I've been friends for a
long time, and I'll examine their set-up in detail.
I'll take my AC current meter with me and have
a look at the load that's on the inverters. I have
never heard of any complaints. When I did
some experimenting with solar cell components
which I found in the Telco's trash can I learned
that each cell needed a steering diode so that
if the cell shorted it wouldn't blow the whole
place apart. Each cell had a fuse of sorts.
