Sorry. That was a typo. I meant to write '16 "models"'.

Collins always (usually?) seems to have assigned Collins numbers for
internal use whether they sold any as the Collins (civilian) number or not. From
what I gather from the TCS, TCS-4 and 56Q manuals (all are USN
Preliminaries) a TCS-(*) consisted of a 56Q, 51Q and several other Collins numbered
items. I don't currently have any evidence for when the 5-Digit Navy Type
Numbers were assigned, but apparently before TCS-5. In some later cases (ATC and
AN/ART-13 for example) the military manuals refer to some internal
assemblies by their Collins numbers. For example, the two CFI modules and the audio
module.

Yep. RU beats out LM. But both were exceeded by the Signal Corps BC-221.
27 "models' from BC-221-T1 through BC-221-AN, with several skips. In the
cases of the TCS, RU and LM there were only a few actual changes made. In
the case of the BC-221, I've never counted up those that count but there were
between several and many.

In the Navy sets there were several others that reached between 15 and 20.
