[Milsurplus] Noise question, not too far off topic.

Jack - I use a stand-alone Timewave audio DSP unit and it's great for CW, but so-so for 'phone. Very critical in the tuning to get decent SSB audio. AM is more forgiving.

MFJ has an analog RF unit that uses 2 antennas (1 signal, 1 noise) to cancel out noise thru a phasing network. It also works "OK" but it's a PITA to set up. Takes practice, but pays off pretty well w/patience. Almost traded it away a couple of times, but finally figured it out. I have power lines on 2 sides of my urban lot and sea air.......Winter really is my best operating time, because the insulators stay reasonably clean between rain storms, hihi.

PS, Jack: I neutralize my good TU-5B this weekend and will use the outboard LF tuning unit I got from you couple of years ago at MRCG. I run it all side-by-side w/my BC-348-R.
