The 115V 400Hz was fed to the primary of the power transformer. The I-81 and I-82 were driven by a secondary winding that, if I remember correctly, was approximately 46 volts.

I have a couple of I-81as and I-82As that are very sluggish at 26 v 400Hz. At 35+ volts, they respond quite quickly and correctly.
