I don't have (or can't locate) the more detailed listing of all USS vessels 
since 1776 but I believe it was four of the five that were sunk that had 
been named the same as earlier vessels.  The current USS Enterprise was named 
after one of the three that survived the War and was scrapped 1958 (the 
other two were scrapped or otherwise destroyed 1947).
