GrayBar actually sold radios, at least during the 1920s and early 1930s, that were made by others (i.e. RCA, General Electric, Westinghous, etc.). They were basically "private branded" just like Sears Roebuck, Montgomery Wards, etc., did.
I have a GrayBar 550 console which actually uses two different RCA/Radiola chassis. RCA made several units that had the r.f. section on one chassis and the AC power supply and audio circuits on a separate chassis. The 550 uses the r.f. section from one model and the audio/power supply from another model. There is a photograph of this radio on the second page at
