Rob,

You may have a microphonic tube. Did you replace the other tubes with those from a working TBX set?

Subject: [Milsurplus] TBX-6 receiver microphonics

Hi,

My TBX-6 receiver has been bugging me. I don't remember the others I had having such a high level of receiver microphonics. If I switch a front panel switch or tap the cabinet the audio "rings" for a couple of seconds.

I have been attributing this to the lack of the sheet metal cover for the receiver compartment, but holding a piece of aluminum in place doesn't change anything.

I have tapped around the inside quite a bit without finding a particularly sensitive spot or loose component.

Replacing the audio output tube didn't help.

Are the tube shields supposed to have caps?

I'll be joining the lineup of military displays at our local Memorial Day observance with the TBX set. Wonder if I can get one of the real Marines to crank the generator for me....

73, Rob
