I have a fully operational ARR 15 in my shack and an ART 13 under restoration. The ARR 15 is an unwieldy rcvr and broad as a barn door. I like it because I love electromechanical stuff and enjoy watching the autotune work, but for ham use the BC 348 is a FAR FAR better mate for the ART 13.
The ARR 15 was never designed for band cruising. It was designed to go immediately and accurately to one of ten pre-tuned HF channels. The ARR 15 autotune freq resetability is phenomenally good and has been documented by Dave Ross.
My ARR 15 is really a gem, fresh out of RCAF OH and destined for install in a P2V7 Neptune ASW plane. I have the shock mount which is really hard to find.
