Hutch,
1. There was an older T.O. 08-10-119 dated 02/15/42 covering only the
BC-348-EMP. And there were manuals published on some single letter models. But
AFAIK, the final revision of AN 08-10-209 was AN 16-40BC-224-3 last revised
09/21/51. It's possible that it got one of those "manual numbering system
of the month" revisions that the Air Force was infamous for in the mid 50's
but if so I never came across one.
2. No. TM 11-692D (BC-348-JNQ and TM 11-692E (BC-224-FK and BC-348-HKLR)
are listed in DA PAM 310-4 mid to late 50's. Pub dates May and March 1955.
I've never found one of either. However, judging by the TM 11-692A-n
(AN/ARC-3), B-n (AN/ART-13A) and C-n (AN/ARC-27 & AN/ARC-55) that I do have, they
will be reprints of the pertinent AN 16-30's in effect at the time, with
only Signal Corps covers and front and rear matter added. I didn't find any
listing showing a TM 11 reprint of the manual on the BC-348-EMOPS and
BC-224-EGHL.
Hard copy reprints of most of the BC-224 and BC-348 manuals and revisions
from 1936 to 1957 available. Quality of some is poor due to quality of
source document. The three final revisions are all good. Unless you just want
to collect/display it, you would be better off with a decent copy of any of
them than with an original. I have several thousand originals of several of
various WW-II vintage manuals, and the paper is or is beginning to get
extremely fragile. For some reason, the AAC/AAF manuals seem to be worse about
this than the bound manuals for the ground sets. In some cases, the '44 and
especially '45 editions are worse than the earlier ones.
