"'There must be a happy rational
medium we can find, between the strict formalism of that past,
and the who cares- barnyard slobbism you see practiced
in the cattle car airlines of today. -Hue Miller"'

Reminds me of a time before 9-11, about 1987 I believe. I was flying from
Medford Or to Albuquerque.
It was a milk run with several intermediate stops. We landed at Oakland and
dropped passengers.
Then they started loading pax for the next stop, San Jose or somewhere, I
don't remember where.
Anyway, here comes a whole family or contingent or whatever of what
appeared to be Mennonites or similar group.
They were carrying shovels, rakes, and I don't know what else. Several of
the women were carrying flats of
what appeared to be strawberry plants or similar.
The guy next to me said he expected to see a woman, bare from the waste up,
with a kid under one arm and
a suckling pig under the other, and each one with lunch in it's mouth get on
next.
That was the old friendlier, peanut popping South West Airlines.
Another guy that got on at the same time was an older heavy set fellow
wearing what appeared to be a dirty "T" shirt.
When he got close enough to read it, it looked like it was splattered with
oil and said "How did you know my airplane had a round engine?". Had a P&W
logo on it.
Those were the days.

Thanx
