Hi, Rod and All:
I feel very happy with your enthusiastic report about USPS.
But, unfortunately, I must recall a recent very bad experience
that I had with UPS.
I ordered four or five BUSS fuses for my HP-8660C from Newark
and they sent them (alas...) by UPS.
Within a couple of days, I received at home (I live also far
from the city) a boy with a telegram from the local UPS
representatives asking me to call them urgently. What I did,
at my earliest convenience. Only to have in return some silly
conversation for "sending cows to sleep" as Brazilians say.
Later, I discovered that for handling my humble fuses there
were EIGHT local representative UPS persons involved!
Furthermore, for some mysterious reason, the goods sent by
UPS to my country, which as you know sleeps closer of USA
than any other in Europe, had to pass through Germany.
Excuse my invisible tears, a shame for a man on my age,
but I must add that because Newark had by mistake duplicated
my order, I was asked to pay on double the "honoraries" for
the customs clearance agent. Each one of more than NINETY
dollars.
To end that sad story: I had to return both packages to Newark.
I am currently receiving goods from the States, almost twice
a month, at home, without any trouble and none of the above
"folklore" by USPS.
Thus, let me say with most of joy: God Bless USPS!
And, please, excuse my waste of bandwidth.
Sincerely yours,
Antonio
