The Importance of Surplus Stores:
Back in the 50s, there was a surplus store in Pensacola, FL that bought all
the shabby, useless, discarded flight gloves from the Navy. Why?? If a
pilot lost his pair of flight gloves (it happened to me twice), he bought a
pair of the shabby gloves from the surplus store, turned them in to small
stores, and was then issued a new pair of gloves. Neat system!
BTW Mark, I got my BC-1306 from Marty's Surplus on SF's Radio Row (next door
to Standard Surplus on Main St. as I recall) in the early 60s.
