You still have the option to mark an item as payment sent.  Ebay pushes
paypal because they get a good cut of the profits.  To require paypal is
illegal and a violation of anti-discrimination laws, they cannot judge a
person by their ability or method of payment, they can only suspend a person
for non-payment, regardless of the method used.

I pay via paypal.  It's easy for me and the suckers accept it, that's the
only reason why.  I absolutely DO NOT receive it for payments through ebay.
I inform buyers of this up front and if I receive payment through paypal, I
cancel the transaction and leave negative feedback, "Failure to pay as
instructed".  In most cases, the buyer marks an item as payment sent, I mark
it on my end as received or completed.
