Good points were made recently by Todd and Don - but I think Dave's
original post that started this thread IDs the silver lining amongst
whatever clouds we perceive -

We dedicated radio nuts will always find a way to trade gear -but what
about folks like the ebay seller in Utah who has saved 100's and 100's
of items from the scrapyard even though he doesn't really know or care
much about the gear he sells. Tons and tons of gear have been saved -
all to be bought by Somebody Somewhere who thinks that the price,
shipping, hassles, whatever are worth it. So frankly I think we
aficionados have been truly blessed by having a mechanism like ebay to
open up attics and basements nationwide.
Go ahead and gripe if you enjoy doing so - but we are definitely
incidental beneficiaries of the entrepreneurs who figured out a way to
provide a service that people are willing to pay for. And so I say
"Thanks to eBay and FedEx and UPS".
