The grid leak pans were shorter than the grid leak resistors. They were
intended to go around the glass portion, or other insulating material,
around the resistor, so as not to short the end contacts, and be able to
collect the "leak" in the pan. They were just a joke given out by sales
reps. I am sure there is even a photo of one in an early QST. The few that
advertised it, and had customers actually buy it, had a real laugh. I know I

Absolutely, since installing it on the grid leak resistor would cause
a pretty nice short.
