A google search for "Howard B. Jones" -tennis -lexington plug
About the fourth result will show a Popular Science extract.

A 1925 edition of Popular Science has a Howard B. Jones advert, but for
a round connector. So, that's the origin of the manufacturer, but not for
the "Jones" connector.
