Next thing, you're going to demand that the AMT be indexed for 
inflation  ;-)

I don't think "ripoff" is the most precise term.  There must be a better 
term.  This is more a form of dishonesty where the terms are not what 
they seem to be on the outside.  This happens all the time, with just 
about every large corporation.  The larger, the more trickery involved.  
You can see it in sales where there is fine print, cable or cell phone 
contracts with "gotchas," warrantees that don't cover what was promised, 
and of course all manner of laws, tax and otherwise. 

At least with the tax laws you know what to expect and there are ways to 
work around them (in this case, avoid any business plan which relies on 
such profits).
