[Milsurplus] WWII Unit History Question

I spent most of today going through my Dad's things, and
came up with some tidbits of his WWII service. I always knew
he was in the Signal Corps, but he would never volunteer much
information about his time in Europe. He would answer specific
questions, but wouldn't elaborate.

Anyway I found a form, which listed the units he
was in from 43 to 45, and learned that from '43 to '45 he was in the
1113 Sig. Co. (S.G).

Questions:

What does the S.G. stand for?

A quick Google search didn't turn up anything, is there
any way to learn what this unit did, and where?

Thanks
