Not all of them had this.  They may have been dropped, at least in
some cases, as an economy measure.

A 5 ton press does this no problem.  It's light for some applications
but I never ran into them in my home shop.

Yep, so true.  But I had 2024-T3 and a couple others on hand and this
was before eBay.  It was scrap material from when I was an A&P
mechanic and came from airframe work being done.  I kept some scrap
for my own use and I made the mountd from that.
