[Milsurplus] ARR 41 comes close to the $1000 mark

Back in the seventies and eighties between school and first low paying jobs I was not able to afford an ARR-41, think Fair Radio listed them for $495.00 or $450.00 in as in condition. I do recall seeing them at hamfest around that time in the $125.00 to $250.00 price range so if they were available for $85.00 each in CA that was steel. Now that I have owned one for some time I have to say the ARR-41 is much like the R-390 in being the most complicated and mechanically complex vacuum tube receivers built. Another interesting footnote is that the ARR-41, ARC-38 and 618S1 all share the same audio module, working on the ARC-38 and 618S is easier then trying to resolve mechanical issues on an ARR-41, at least for me.
